Connect Reddit to Fondoo
Fondoo cannot publish to Reddit automatically right now. Instead, your AI agent prepares a Reddit post, checks it against the subreddit's rules, and gives you a pre-filled Reddit link so you can review and submit it yourself. This keeps you in control of every post in communities that are strict about promotion.
What Fondoo can do with it
- Prepare a post for a subreddit:
draft_community_posttakes a title (up to 300 characters), body text (up to 40,000 characters), the subreddit name and the subreddit's current rules. Optional: a link, a flair and a list of numbers you have verified. - Flag likely rule problems: Fondoo scans the rules text you supply and flags:
self_promotion_window: the subreddit only allows promotion on certain days or in a megathread;self_promotion_ban: promotional content is not allowed;required_flair: the subreddit requires flair and you did not choose one;ai_content_ban: the subreddit bans AI-written content;cross_subreddit_reuse: the same or very similar text was drafted for another subreddit, which Reddit may treat as spam;unverified_numbers: the post contains numbers you have not confirmed.
- Give you a submit link: the result includes
submitUrl, ahttps://www.reddit.com/r/<subreddit>/submit?...address with your title and text filled in, andhumanSubmissionRequired: true.
What it does not do:
- It never posts, comments, votes or sends messages on Reddit.
- Scheduling a Reddit post is refused. Upload-Post, the service Fondoo uses for social posting, reports Reddit publishing as unavailable (
reddit_unavailable) (Upload-Post docs). Fondoo does not retry it. - The rule checks are simple text checks. They help, but they are not a guarantee that moderators will accept the post.
What needs your approval:
- Nothing is published by Fondoo, so you are the approval: you read the draft, open the link and click Post on Reddit yourself.
- If Reddit publishing returns in a future release, every Reddit post will still require the owner's approval. This is fixed in Fondoo's code.
Before you start
- A Reddit account in good standing, signed in on the device where you will open the submit link. Many subreddits require a minimum account age or karma.
- The subreddit's current rules. Open the subreddit, read its rules in the sidebar or About tab, and copy the text. Rules change, so copy them fresh for each post. Fondoo never uses a stored copy.
- Reddit's own rules apply on top: see the Reddit Rules.
- Cost: free. Drafting with
draft_community_postdoes not use AI post units;draft_social_posts(AI ideas) uses one unit per idea.
Step by step: get your credentials
There are no credentials to create today.
- Fondoo does not ask for a Reddit password, API key or app.
- Do not create a Reddit developer app for Fondoo. Reddit now requires approval for new API access under its Responsible Builder Policy (announced in r/redditdev in November 2025), and Fondoo's posting partner does not support Reddit. This may change; check this guide again later.
- The Reddit tile in Fondoo's Connections page opens setup instructions only. If you try to authorize Reddit through Fondoo's Upload-Post connection page, expect it to fail with
reddit_unavailable.
Connect it in Fondoo
(a) In the dashboard
- Open Connections → Available → Social → Reddit → Connect Reddit → Connect securely.
- The signed link (valid for 15 minutes) explains the current status: publishing is blocked, and posts must be human-reviewed with current subreddit rules.
(b) By asking your agent
Draft a Reddit post for r/smallbusiness about our launch. Here are the subreddit's current rules: [paste rules]. Do not post it; give me the submit link and any rule flags.
Your agent runs:
connect_service({provider:"reddit", siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID"}) // status and instructions
draft_community_post({
siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID", network:"reddit", subreddit:"smallbusiness",
rulesText:"<current rules>", title:"We built ...", text:"...",
aiAssisted:true, verifiedNumbers:["30%"]
})
-> { draft, submitUrl, humanSubmissionRequired:true, flags:[...] }REST equivalent:
curl -X POST https://api.getfondoo.com/v1/ops/draft_community_post \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $FONDOO_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"siteId":"YOUR-SITE-UUID","network":"reddit","subreddit":"smallbusiness","rulesText":"...","title":"...","text":"...","aiAssisted":true}'add_connection_key, test_connection, connect_social and refresh_social_accounts are not needed for Reddit today.
Test that it works
- Run
draft_community_postwith a real subreddit and its rules. - Check the response has
submitUrland aflagslist (it may be empty). - Open
submitUrlwhile signed in to Reddit. The title and text should be filled in. Review, choose a flair if needed, and post, or close the tab.
Troubleshooting
- "Supply the target subreddit and its current rules text": both
subredditandrulesTextare required for Reddit. - Subreddit name rejected: use only the name, without
r/, 2 to 21 letters, numbers or underscores. reddit_unavailablewhen scheduling or connecting: expected. Usedraft_community_postand submit by hand.ai_content_banflag: the subreddit bans AI content. If the draft was AI-assisted, do not submit it there. Rewrite it yourself or choose another subreddit.cross_subreddit_reuseflag: rewrite the post for each community instead of cross-posting the same text.- Submit link opens with empty fields: very long text can be cut off in a browser address. Copy the text from the
draftfield instead.
Limits, data and security
- Limits: 300-character titles, 40,000-character bodies. Reddit and each subreddit apply their own posting limits to your account.
- What Fondoo stores: each community draft (subreddit, title, text and flags) so it can detect reused text. Fondoo stores no Reddit credentials.
- Disconnect: there is nothing to disconnect. Community drafts stay in Fondoo's history so it can spot reused text across subreddits.
