Connect Nostr to Fondoo
Connecting Nostr lets your business publish text notes to the Nostr network. Your AI agent can draft and schedule notes, and you approve them before they go out. Fondoo posts through its Upload-Post account, which signs each note with a key you provide and sends it to your chosen relays.
What Fondoo can do with it
- Publish text notes: up to 32,768 characters. Nostr through Fondoo is text only; images are not uploaded.
- Choose relays: you can list the relays your notes go to. If you do not, Upload-Post uses its own defaults.
- Draft and schedule:
draft_social_posts(one AI post unit per idea),save_social_draft,schedule_social_posts. - Track links: web links in a note become Fondoo tracked links with UTM tags.
- Plan:
get_social_calendar,get_post,get_publishing_capacity.
What it does not do:
- No images or video, no multi-note threads.
- No stats: Upload-Post does not offer Nostr analytics.
- No deleting after publishing. Nostr notes are copied by relays and generally cannot be fully removed.
What needs your approval:
- By default every note needs the owner's approval. The agent's
approve_social_postsbecomes a request in your approval queue. - Only the owner can add the signing key (
configure_upload_post_platform) and change posting rules (update_distribution_rules).
Before you start
- Use a dedicated key for your business. On Nostr, your private key is your account. It cannot be reset or revoked. If it leaks, anyone can post as you forever. Do not use your personal key. Create a new identity just for this business.
- Understand the key formats. A private key is usually shown as
nsec1...and the matching public key asnpub1...(NIP-19). Upload-Post accepts thensecform or the raw hex form. - Pick a few relays (optional). Relays are servers that store and share notes, with addresses that start with
wss://(NIP-01). Some relays charge a fee or require an invitation. - Cost: Nostr itself is free. Posting is part of your Fondoo plan. Your plan sets how many social sets you can have (Builder and Launch: one, Growth: three, Agency: ten), with one Nostr identity per social set.
Step by step: get your credentials
You need one value, the private key, and optionally a relay list.
- Open a Nostr client you trust and create a new account (identity) for your business. Most clients offer this on their sign-up screen. Fill in the profile name and picture there; Fondoo only posts notes.
- Find the client's key backup or export option (often under settings, keys or security; the label varies by client). Copy the private key that starts with
nsec1. - Store a backup of this key in your password manager. Losing it means losing the account.
- Optional: write down two to five relay addresses you want to use, separated by commas, for example
wss://relay.damus.io,wss://nos.lol(the example Upload-Post uses). - Note the matching public key (
npub1...). Share that one freely; it is how people find you.
The private key goes in private_key, the relays in relays (one comma-separated string), and an optional label in name.
Connect it in Fondoo
(a) In the dashboard
The Connections page does not have a Nostr tile yet. Start with your agent or the REST API below. Once connected, the identity appears under Connected.
(b) By asking your agent
Set up Nostr for the main site. Create the social connection and give me its connectionId so I can add the key myself.
Your agent runs:
connect_service({provider:"nostr", siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID"}) // signed 15-minute instructions link
connect_social({siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID", provider:"upload_post", network:"nostr",
redirectUrl:"https://your-site.example/connected"})
-> { connectionId, url }Then you, the owner, add the key. Never paste a private key into an agent chat. Use the REST API with your owner credentials, from your own computer:
curl -X POST https://api.getfondoo.com/v1/ops/configure_upload_post_platform \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $FONDOO_OWNER_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"siteId":"YOUR-SITE-UUID","connectionId":"CONNECTION-UUID","network":"nostr","credential":{"private_key":"nsec1...","relays":"wss://relay.damus.io,wss://nos.lol","name":"Acme on Nostr"}}'Only private_key, relays and name are accepted. Then run refresh_social_accounts({siteId, connectionId}).
Nostr does not use add_connection_key or test_connection. refresh_social_accounts is the check.
Turn Nostr on. The owner adds Nostr to the posting rules with update_distribution_rules. Defaults: one note per day, 09:00 to 17:00 UTC, text, review approval. text is the only format Nostr supports here.
Test that it works
list_social_accountsshould show the Nostr connection.- Save a short test note and schedule it, then approve it.
- When due, check
get_postforpublished. Open yournpubin any Nostr client and confirm the note appears.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid platform credentials": a field is missing, misnamed or not a string.
relaysmust be one comma-separated string, not a list. - Key rejected: you pasted the public key (
npub1...) instead of the private key (nsec1...), or the key was cut off. - "nostr: unsupported post type": you tried to attach media. Send text only.
- Note not visible in a client: the client may read from different relays. Add one of your relays to the client, or add a widely used relay to your list and send the credential again.
- Account missing after refresh: Upload-Post did not return a Nostr account for this profile. Send the key again, then refresh. If it still does not appear, contact Fondoo support; this may differ for your account.
Limits, data and security
- Limits: 32,768 characters, text only. Fondoo sets no daily cap for Nostr; your cadence setting controls volume. Individual relays may limit or reject notes.
- Retries: five automatic attempts, then an alert.
- What Fondoo stores: the connection's name and ID, your notes, schedules and results. Fondoo passes the private key to Upload-Post, which stores it encrypted. Fondoo does not keep a copy and never returns it.
- Rotate or disconnect: a Nostr key cannot be revoked, and Fondoo has no self-serve disconnect operation for social connections yet. To stop posting, cancel pending notes with
cancel_postand remove Nostr from your posting rules withupdate_distribution_rules. Ask Fondoo support to remove the stored key from Upload-Post. If you think the key leaked, create a new identity, tell your followers the newnpub, and connect the new key with the same call.
