Connect Google Business Profile to Fondoo
Connecting your Google Business Profile lets Fondoo publish posts (Google calls them "updates") to your business listing on Google Search and Maps. Your Fondoo agent can draft and schedule these posts, and read back basic numbers. Fondoo posts through its own Upload-Post account, so you sign in with Google once and never handle an API key.
What Fondoo can do with it
- Publish standard posts of up to 1,500 characters, as text only, text with one image, or text with one video. Google shows only about the first 100 characters before "Read more", so put the key message first.
- Target one business location. Every Google Business post in Fondoo must name its location in a field called
gbp_location_id. You can save it once on the account or add it to each post. - Schedule posts in the time windows you set, and read stats when Upload-Post provides them (
get_social_stats). - Cancel a post before it goes out (
cancel_post). Fondoo cannot delete a Google post after it is published. Remove it in your Business Profile instead.
Not supported through Fondoo today: Event and Offer posts, action buttons (such as Book or Call), and posting to the photo gallery. Fondoo does not pass the extra fields those need. Create them in Google directly.
What needs your approval:
- You link the Google account yourself, in your browser.
- Scheduled posts wait for your OK by default. Only the human owner can switch Google Business to automatic publishing.
- Saving a default location on the account (
configure_social_account) is owner-only.
Before you start
- A verified Google Business Profile. Google says posts from an unverified profile stay "Pending" and don't appear on Search or Maps.
- You must be an owner or manager of that profile. The Google account you sign in with must have that role. To add someone, an owner goes to More, then Business Profile settings, then People and access, selects Add, chooses Manager, and selects Invite (Google help).
- A Fondoo workspace where you are the owner, with the site you want to post for.
- Cost: there is no Google fee for posting. Posting is covered by your Fondoo plan.
Step by step: authorize your account
There is no key to create. You sign in with Google on a secure page.
- Ask your agent to connect Google Business Profile. It calls
connect_socialand gives you a secure link (see below). - Open the link. It is an Upload-Post page titled "Connect" followed by your business name.
- Choose Google Business. Sign in with the Google account that is an owner or manager of the profile.
- Google's consent screen asks you to let the app see and manage your Business Profile. That access is needed to publish posts. Approve it. The exact wording may differ for your account.
- You are returned to the address your agent chose. Tell your agent you are done. It runs
refresh_social_accountsto bring the account into Fondoo.
Find your location ID. Upload-Post expects the location's full Google name, in the form accounts/<account number>/locations/<location number>. Fondoo does not yet have an operation that lists your locations. If you or your agent cannot find this value, contact Fondoo support, who can look it up from your connected account. Google shows a Business Profile ID under More, then Business Profile settings, then Advanced settings (Google help). That ID identifies your listing, but it may not be the same number Upload-Post needs. This may differ for your account.
Connect it in Fondoo
(a) From the dashboard
The Connections page's Available list does not include Google Business Profile today, so use your agent or the API to connect. Once linked, the account shows in the Connected card as Google Business, with a Reconnect button. It also appears in the account list on the Social page.
(b) By asking your agent
Example prompt:
Connect our Google Business Profile to this site. Send me the sign-in link, and when I say done, refresh the accounts. Then show me the owner call to save our location ID as the default.
The agent typically calls:
connect_service({ provider: "google_business", siteId }) // read-only: steps + 15-minute link
connect_social({ siteId, provider: "upload_post", network: "google_business",
redirectUrl: "https://<a page to return to>" }) // returns { connectionId, url }
refresh_social_accounts({ siteId, connectionId }) // after you sign in
list_social_accounts({ siteId }) // find the account's idOver MCP, agents use find_tools and call_tool({ name, args }).
Save the default location (owner only). Set it once so every post carries it:
curl https://api.getfondoo.com/v1/ops/configure_social_account \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $FONDOO_OWNER_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"siteId":"<site-uuid>","accountId":"<gbp-account-uuid>","settings":{"gbp_location_id":"accounts/123456789/locations/222222222"}}'You can also put gbp_location_id in a single post's details to override it.
Turn on posting rules (owner only). Fondoo only schedules to networks in your distribution rules. Read them with get_distribution_rules. Then, as the human owner, send the full list back with update_distribution_rules. The update replaces all rules, so keep your other networks. Example entry:
{ "network": "google_business", "cadence": 1, "formats": ["text", "image"], "approval": "review" }Windows default to 09:00 to 17:00 UTC every day.
Test that it works
- Run
list_social_accounts({ siteId }). Look for an account withnetwork: "google_business". - Preview a post without sending it. Call
schedule_social_postswith{ "siteId": "<site-uuid>", "variants": [{ "accountId": "<gbp-account-uuid>", "text": "We're open late this Friday." }], "dryRun": true }. Check thatplatform_validationpassed. - Schedule it for real, then approve it on Home.
- After the scheduled time, check
get_postor the Social calendar. Then look at the Updates section of your profile on Google. Google reviews posts and media, so they can take a while to appear. Upload-Post mentions up to 24 to 48 hours for media.
Troubleshooting
- "google_business requires gbp_location_id" Save
gbp_location_idon the account withconfigure_social_account, or add it to the post'sdetails. - Post fails at publishing although the preview passed. The location ID is probably wrong, or in the wrong format. Use the full
accounts/.../locations/...form, notaccount_idstyle values. Make sure the signed-in Google account still manages that location. - "Enabled network not found" Add
google_businessto your distribution rules. - "google_business character limit (1500) exceeded…" or "media limit exceeded" Shorten the text. Use one image of 5 MB or less.
- Post shows "Pending" or never appears on Google. Finish verifying your profile. Also avoid phone numbers in the post text: Google may reject a post if it can't link the number to your business.
- Account missing after refresh. Sign in again with an owner or manager account. Upload-Post hides accounts that need reauthorization. Run
connect_socialagain or use Reconnect.
Limits, data and security
- 1,500 characters per post. One image (up to 5 MB) or one video per post (Upload-Post limits recorded in Fondoo's code on 2026-10-21). Upload-Post recommends JPG or PNG images around 1200×900.
- Fondoo publishes "Update" posts only. Your daily volume follows the cadence in your rules.
- Fondoo never sees your Google password. The Google authorization is held by Upload-Post under Fondoo's account. Fondoo stores the account's name and ID, your posts, the location setting and stats.
- To disconnect, remove the app's access in your Google Account under Third-party apps & services. Then run
refresh_social_accountsso Fondoo marks the account inactive. Removing a person from People and access also stops their access.
