Connect Facebook to Fondoo
Connecting a Facebook Page lets your business publish posts to that Page from Fondoo. Your AI agent can draft and schedule Page posts with text, photos or a video, and you approve them before they go out. Fondoo publishes through its own Upload-Post account, so you do not need a Meta developer app or an Upload-Post account of your own.
What Fondoo can do with it
- Post to a Facebook Page: text posts, single photos, photo carousels and a single video. Fondoo allows up to 63,206 characters per post and up to 10 images of 4 MB or less each.
- Draft and schedule posts: your agent can write drafts with
draft_social_posts(uses one AI post unit per idea) or save your own text withsave_social_draft. It can then schedule them withschedule_social_postsinside your posting windows. - Track links: every web link in a post is replaced with a Fondoo tracked link that carries UTM tags, so visits show up in your Fondoo analytics.
- Read post stats:
get_social_statsreturns the numbers Upload-Post reports for the post, such as reactions, comments and shares. Missing numbers stay empty, never zero. - Check the calendar:
get_social_calendar,get_postandget_publishing_capacityshow what is scheduled and how much of today's limit is left.
What needs your approval:
- By default every Facebook post needs the owner's approval before it is published. When your agent calls
approve_social_posts, Fondoo puts the request in your approval queue instead of publishing. - Only the owner can change posting rules (
update_distribution_rules), for example to switch Facebook to automatic publishing. - Fondoo cannot delete a post after it is published on Facebook. Delete it in Facebook if needed.
cancel_poststops posts that have not gone out yet.
Before you start
- A Facebook Page. Meta only allows posting to Pages, not personal profiles (Upload-Post FAQ). If you do not have one, create it at facebook.com/pages/create.
- Full control of the Page. Sign in with the Facebook account that has Facebook access with full control (or at least access that lets you create content) on the Page. See About Facebook Page access.
- A verified Facebook account. Upload-Post notes that unconfirmed accounts often fail to connect. Check Account Quality if you get errors.
- Cost: Facebook charges nothing for organic posts. Posting is part of your Fondoo plan. Your plan sets how many social sets you can have (Builder and Launch: one, Growth: three, Agency: ten). Each set holds one account per network.
- Upload-Post notes that the Page should be linked to your personal profile, not only to a Business Portfolio.
Step by step: get your credentials
There is no key to copy. You sign in with Facebook and grant permissions.
- Make sure you are logged in to Facebook in your browser as the person who manages the Page.
- Open the authorization link Fondoo gives you (see the next section). It is an Upload-Post page branded with your business name.
- Choose Facebook. Facebook shows its own consent screen.
- Pick the Page or Pages you want to share, and accept all requested permissions. If you untick a permission, posting or stats can fail later.
- Upload-Post may ask you to choose one Page for this profile. Pick the Page you want Fondoo to post to. Upload-Post calls this "pinning" a Page, and a pinned Page always takes priority (Pin a Facebook Page). This step may differ for your account.
- You are sent back to the return address Fondoo set. Nothing needs to be pasted.
Facebook's consent screen labels change often. If you are unsure, accept the permissions that mention managing and publishing content for your Page.
Connect it in Fondoo
(a) In the dashboard
- Open Connections and scroll to Available. Under Social, find Facebook.
- Click Connect Facebook, then Connect securely. This opens a signed setup link that lasts 15 minutes. It shows the steps but does not carry any credentials.
- Ask your agent to create the authorization page (below), or call
connect_socialyourself.
(b) By asking your agent
Example prompt:
Connect our Facebook Page to Fondoo for the main site. Send me the authorization link, and after I approve, refresh the accounts and show me what is connected.
Your agent will run:
connect_service({provider:"facebook", siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID"})
connect_social({siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID", provider:"upload_post", network:"facebook",
redirectUrl:"https://your-site.example/connected"})
-> { connectionId, url } // open url and approve
refresh_social_accounts({siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID", connectionId:"CONNECTION-UUID"})
list_social_accounts({siteId:"YOUR-SITE-UUID"})The REST equivalent is POST /v1/ops/<operation>:
curl -X POST https://api.getfondoo.com/v1/ops/connect_social \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $FONDOO_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"siteId":"YOUR-SITE-UUID","provider":"upload_post","network":"facebook","redirectUrl":"https://your-site.example/connected"}'Facebook uses sign-in, so add_connection_key and test_connection do not apply. refresh_social_accounts is the check.
Turn Facebook on. Networks stay off until the owner lists them in the posting rules. Ask your agent to prepare update_distribution_rules with Facebook. The default is one post per day, 09:00 to 17:00 UTC, text only, with review approval. Add image, carousel or video to formats if you want media posts.
Wrong Page? Fondoo sends the connected account as the Page ID. If posts land on the wrong Page, pin the right Page in Upload-Post, or have the owner set facebook_page_id with configure_social_account.
Test that it works
- Run
list_social_accounts. Your Facebook Page should appear with its name. - Ask your agent to save a short test draft with
save_social_draftand schedule it withschedule_social_posts. - Approve it in your approval queue.
- When it is due, check
get_post. The state should becomepublishedwith a link. Open the link to confirm it is on the right Page.
Troubleshooting
- "No Facebook Pages found for your account": you connected a personal profile with no Page. Create a Page or get full control of one, then connect again.
- Error 400 while connecting: the Facebook account is often unconfirmed or has a restriction. Check Account Quality.
- Post went to the wrong Page: pin the correct Page or set
facebook_page_id(see above). - "Enable facebook in distribution rules first": the owner has not added Facebook to the posting rules yet.
- "facebook daily publishing cap reached": Fondoo's default is 25 Facebook posts per UTC day per account. Upload-Post applies 25 per rolling 24 hours per Page (upload limits). Pick another day.
- Account missing after a refresh: Upload-Post marked it "reauthorization required", often after a password change or removed permissions. Create a new link with
connect_socialand sign in again.
Limits, data and security
- Limits: 25 posts per day per Page by default, 10 images per post, 4 MB per image. Upload-Post also blocks near-duplicate posts within 48 hours. Fondoo blocks near-identical text across different accounts on the same network.
- Failed posts retry automatically (five attempts with growing waits). After that, Fondoo raises an alert.
- What Fondoo stores: the Page's ID and name, your posts, schedules, results and stats. Your Facebook access token is held by Upload-Post, not by Fondoo, and Fondoo never shows it.
- Disconnect: in Facebook settings, look for Business integrations (or Apps and websites) and remove the Upload-Post app. The label may differ for your account. Then run
refresh_social_accounts. The Page is then marked inactive in Fondoo. Cancel any pending posts withcancel_postfirst.
