Start a business from a ChatGPT chat

You've talked the idea through with ChatGPT. Now let it set up the website, payments and first posts, while you keep the decisions that involve money and identity.

TL;DR

  • Connect Fondoo to ChatGPT once, then describe your business in plain words.
  • ChatGPT can set up a starter site, products, a pricing section, a waitlist and draft posts through Fondoo's tools.
  • You do the human parts: claiming the account, verifying your identity with Stripe, connecting social accounts and approving anything that spends money or goes live.
  • Fondoo is $24/site/month after a 7-day trial ($0, card required). Building in preview during the trial uses test payments and drafts. See /pricing.

A lot of businesses start as a ChatGPT conversation: "I want to sell tutoring sessions," "help me name my candle shop," "what should I charge?" The gap is turning that chat into something people can find and pay for. Fondoo gives ChatGPT the tools to do the setup work, with you approving the parts that matter.

Before you start

  • A ChatGPT plan that lets you add custom apps or connectors (MCP). Availability depends on your plan and workspace settings, and OpenAI updates the menus from time to time.
  • A rough idea: what you sell, who it's for, and a price to start with.

Step 1: Connect Fondoo to ChatGPT

In ChatGPT's settings, add a custom app or connector and enter the Fondoo MCP URL (https://api.getfondoo.com/mcp). Sign in when asked and choose your workspace.

ChatGPT can also start before you have an account. It can create a temporary workspace (create_provisional_workspace) and send you a claim link. You have 72 hours to sign in and claim it, which is when you add a card and the 7-day trial begins. If you don't claim it, it's deleted.

Step 2: Describe the business

Talk to ChatGPT the way you would to a friend who builds websites:

You, to your agent

I want to start a weekend math tutoring business for middle schoolers in Austin. Sessions are $45/hour, packages of 5 for $200. Set up a simple website with a booking request form, a pricing section and a page about me. Use a friendly tone. Show me a preview before anything goes live.

Behind the scenes, ChatGPT works through Fondoo's tools. A typical sequence:

create_business(...) // the business record
install_template(...) // a launch kit: site, pages, products and emails as drafts
upsert_product(...) // "1 hour" and "5-session package", in test mode
add_pricing_block(...) // pricing section bound to those prices
preview_site({ siteId }) // a private preview link for you
get_claim_link() // if it started without an account

install_template sets everything up as drafts. Nothing goes out to the world yet.

If ChatGPT isn't sure which tool fits, it can search with find_tools, which looks up every operation by name, description or category.

Step 3: Review the preview

Open the preview link and read it like a customer. Ask for changes in the chat: "make the headline shorter," "add a FAQ about cancellations," "remove the stock-photo feel." ChatGPT edits the pages with edit_page, and every change keeps version history, so undo_edit can roll it back.

Fondoo also generates basic legal pages with generate_legal_pages. Have them reviewed if your business has specific legal needs.

Step 4: Get paid

To take real payments:

  1. ChatGPT calls get_stripe_onboarding_link and gives you a Stripe link.
  2. You complete Stripe's identity and bank details. No AI can do this part for you.
  3. When you're ready to go live, ChatGPT switches the products to live mode. Live price changes from an agent come back to you as an approval.

Customers pay through Stripe Checkout, straight into your own Stripe account. Fondoo adds a 1% fee on top of Stripe's processing. The Stripe safety guide explains the setup.

Step 5: Pick a domain

ChatGPT can check names with search_domains across .com, .co, .app, .dev, .ai and .io. Buying one is different: from ChatGPT, purchases always go through an approval page on getfondoo.com, where you confirm the price. Domains cost what the registrar charges plus $2.

Then publish_site puts your site live on the domain, with SSL.

Step 6: Tell people

  • Social: connect your accounts through a secure link (you click "authorize" for each network), then ChatGPT writes posts and schedules them with schedule_social_posts. Instagram, Facebook, Google Business, TikTok and more are supported. See posting to 21 networks; it works the same from ChatGPT.
  • Email: a waitlist or newsletter signup form collects people who asked to hear from you, with double opt-in. See newsletters that reach the inbox.
  • Search: Fondoo submits your sitemap to Google and Bing when you publish and checks whether pages get indexed. Expect days to weeks for a new site; here's why.

Step 7: Check in weekly

Ask ChatGPT "how's my business doing this week?" It reads your weekly report with get_report: visits, signups, where they came from and which pages led to payments. Then ask what to try next.

What ChatGPT can and can't do here

ChatGPT canYou do
Draft the site, pages, products and pricingClaim the account and add a card
Write and schedule posts and newslettersVerify your identity with Stripe
Suggest domain names and check availabilityApprove purchases and live price changes
Read your analytics and suggest changesConnect social accounts (OAuth)
Turn support requests into draft repliesHandle refunds and complaints

Fondoo's rules apply in every chat: agents can't refund, pay out or move money, spending is capped by you, and anything that deletes, spends or emails a list waits for your approval.

Tips for better results

  • Give facts, not adjectives. "Sessions are 60 minutes, online or at the library on Saturdays" beats "make it sound professional."
  • Ask for a preview every time. "Show me before publishing" is a good habit.
  • One change at a time makes it easier to undo.
  • Keep claims honest. Don't ask for fake reviews or made-up results. Fondoo won't publish fake reviews, and your customers can tell.

FAQ

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe what you want in ChatGPT and approve the results. If you later hire a developer or use a coding agent, it can work on the same business.

Is there a Fondoo app in the ChatGPT app directory?

Today you connect Fondoo by its MCP URL. A listed ChatGPT app with in-chat previews and approval cards is in the works.

What does it cost?

$24/site/month after a 7-day trial ($0, card required). During the trial you build in preview with test payments and drafts. Payments carry a 1% Fondoo fee plus Stripe's fees. See /pricing.

Does Fondoo use its own AI to write my site?

No. ChatGPT, or any agent you bring, does the writing, and there's no limit on how much it writes. Why we work this way.

Can I switch from ChatGPT to Claude later?

Yes. The business lives in Fondoo, not in the chat. Any MCP-capable agent can pick it up.
