Dropshipping with CJ and your AI agent

Let your agent research products with real data, import them to your store, route orders to CJ after you approve, and give customers a tracking page. No earnings promises.

TL;DR

  • Connect your CJ Dropshipping API key and your Shopify or WooCommerce store to Fondoo, then ask your agent to "find me 5 products to sell."
  • find_products returns a shortlist where every number has a source: search volume, Google Trends, CJ cost, shipping quote and estimated margin.
  • import_supplier_product creates a store draft with factual product copy and explicit margin assumptions. You publish it.
  • Routing an order to CJ needs your approval every time, and it doesn't automatically pay your CJ balance. Customers get a tracking page that shows status without exposing their details.

Dropshipping guides love screenshots of revenue dashboards. This isn't one of those. There are no earnings claims here, and Fondoo won't make them for you either. What an agent can do is take the slow, repetitive parts off your plate: research, imports, order routing and "where's my order" messages.

What you need

  • A CJ Dropshipping account and an API key (generated in your CJ account).
  • A Shopify or WooCommerce store.
  • A Fondoo site and an AI agent connected over MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor or any MCP client).

Optional: a Keepa key if you want Amazon price history for a specific product, and ShipStation, Shippo or AfterShip if you already use them for tracking.

Step 1: Connect CJ and your store

Ask your agent to connect CJ. It calls add_connection_key without the key itself, which returns a one-time secure paste page. You paste the API key there, not into chat (chat logs keep secrets). Then:

add_connection_key({ provider: "cj", siteId })
test_connection({ connectionId: cjConnectionId })

test_connection calls a cheap CJ endpoint and reports which permissions are confirmed and which are unknown. It never assumes write access just because reads work.

Do the same for your store:

  • Shopify: create an app for your own store in Shopify's Dev Dashboard and paste its client ID and secret. Fondoo refreshes the short-lived access token automatically.
  • WooCommerce: paste a REST API consumer key and secret.

Keys are encrypted at rest, never returned by any tool, and list_connections only shows masked versions.

Step 2: Research products with sources

find_products({ query: "posture corrector", supplierConnectionId: cjConnectionId,
  destination: "US", limit: 5, marginPercent: 40, feePercent: 3 })

For your search term, Fondoo pulls:

  • Demand: monthly search volume from DataForSEO;
  • Trend: Google Trends interest for the term;
  • Supplier cost: the CJ variant price;
  • Shipping: the cheapest CJ shipping quote from origin to your destination, with its delivery estimate;
  • Price and margin: a suggested price from your target margin and payment fee;
  • Optional: Keepa price and sales-rank history if you pass an exact Amazon ASIN.

Each shortlisted product gets a score with its formula spelled out: 40% demand, 20% trend, 30% target margin, 10% delivery estimate. Missing evidence counts as zero instead of being guessed. Every number carries its source, so you can check it.

Fondoo uses official APIs only. It doesn't scrape marketplaces that forbid it.

How to read the shortlist

  • High demand, flat trend usually means a steady product with lots of competition.
  • Rising trend, low volume can be early, or a blip. Check again in a few weeks.
  • Long delivery estimates turn into support tickets. Weigh them honestly.
  • The margin is an estimate from your inputs, not a promise. Ads, returns and chargebacks aren't in it.

Step 3: Import to your store

When you like a product:

import_supplier_product({ siteId, supplierConnectionId: cjConnectionId,
  storeConnectionId: shopifyConnectionId, productId, variantId,
  destination: "US", pricing: { marginPercent: 40, feePercent: 3, fixedCost: 0 } })

This creates a draft product in your store with:

  • factual SEO copy built from the supplier data (no invented features or health claims);
  • the price calculated from cost, shipping, your margin and fees, with those assumptions written down;
  • a mapping between the store variant and the CJ variant, used later for orders and stock.

You review and publish the draft. sync_inventory keeps store stock in line with CJ variant stock.

Step 4: Route orders to CJ, with approval

When an order comes in:

route_order_to_supplier({ siteId, storeConnectionId: shopifyConnectionId,
  supplierConnectionId: cjConnectionId, orderId: "1001" })

Fondoo reads the real store order, maps your imported variants to CJ variants and prepares the CJ order. Because this creates a real supplier order, it's a money-level action: agents need owner approval every time. You get an approval link, check the order, and approve.

Two details worth knowing:

  • Routing an order doesn't automatically pay your CJ balance. Payment stays in your CJ account, under your control.
  • Choose the variant, origin, destination and shipping method before ordering. The agent can recommend; you confirm.

Step 5: Give customers a tracking page

"Where's my order?" is the most common dropshipping support message. After an order is routed, get_order_tracking refreshes the supplier's tracking status and Fondoo creates a public tracking link for that order.

The tracking page shows the shipment status without exposing the customer's name, address or what they ordered. Your agent can include the link in the shipping email or in a reply to a "where's my order" ticket.

When a customer does open a ticket, support_create_order_issue creates a ticket tied to the real order. Agents never change orders or issue refunds from support; complaints and refund requests always go to a human.

Step 6: Tell people about it

Once a product page is live, your agent can write posts and schedule them with schedule_social_posts, with tracked links so you see which posts led to orders. See posting to 21 networks (and drafting for Reddit) from Claude. For organic search, make sure the store is set up for indexing.

Guardrails we keep

  • No earnings claims in our product or marketing.
  • Product claims in generated copy are checked against supplier facts.
  • No fake reviews, ever.
  • Chargeback risk stays with your store's payment processor (for example, Shopify Payments).

FAQ

Does Fondoo work with Zendrop, AutoDS or Spocket?

We didn't find public APIs for them, so Fondoo works through the store they sync with: your agent manages Shopify products and orders, and those apps pick them up.

Will the agent place orders on its own?

No. route_order_to_supplier always needs owner approval when an agent calls it, and it doesn't pay your CJ balance.

Is the product research data reliable?

Every number shows its source: DataForSEO for volume and trends, CJ for cost and shipping, Keepa for Amazon history. It's real data, but it isn't a sales forecast.

Which stores are supported?

Shopify and WooCommerce today. Printful, Printify and Gelato are supported for print-on-demand. More store platforms are on the way; the integrations page shows what's live.

What does it cost?

$24/site/month after a 7-day trial, with every tool included. CJ, Shopify and payment processing fees are separate. See /pricing.
